The college was established in the year 2011 vide Govt. Order No: 264-Hr.Edu. Of 2011 Dated: 29/06/2011 under Centrally Sponsored Scheme and later got functional in 2013 with a total enrollment of 36 students. It is situated at Nerok around 3 Km away from the Padum market. It is known for providing higher education opportunities, offering various undergraduate degree programmes and skill courses to students. The college is the most remotely located in UT Ladakh around 240 Km away from the headquarters of the two District of UT Ladakh. Since its inception the college witnessed a great expansion and development. Presently the college is offering undergraduate degree programme in Social Science and Science. Earlier till 2019, the college was affiliated with Kashmir University and after the formation of UT Ladakh the college got affiliated with University of Ladakh and all curriculums is prescribed as per the University of Ladakh.
The college possesses a land of 200 kanal and 6 Marlas. It has Academic Block having ICT enabled six classrooms and Administrative Block. This College was included among 22 model colleges of J&K under RUSA 1.0 and got 1.97 Cr funds under the component of Infrastructure Grants to colleges in 2016, able to upgrade the college. I am very much delighted to inform you that our college has cooperative, energetic and dedicated faculty members. Our college has huge learning pool; including library containing around 9000 books, ICT enabled classrooms, well equipped laboratories, sport facility and free WIFI facility. We are committed to provide the best teaching –learning facilities and committed to nurture the hidden talent through group and individual activities. We are making every effort to provide hands-on training and experiential learning outside of the classroom by organizing educational and exposure tours to various locations. We hope and anticipate that the students, who are our primary beneficiaries, will remain focused on their overall development and will be disciplined, respectful, and concerned about the institution's assets.
After formation of UT Ladakh, flow of budget for the development of the college increased many fold as compared to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The College becomes one of the fast growing institutes in the UT Ladakh. Fully equip Science laboratory was established. The college has 25kwp solar plant to meet the regular electric power supply. UT Administration sanctioned seven important projects of the college including passive solar 50 bedded hostel separate for girls and boys, passive solar Science Laboratory Block, passive solar Indoor Stadium Cum Multipurpose Hall, Smart Classrooms, and passive solar Gazetted & Non Gazetted Staff Quarters. All the construction works taking place with desired pace and hopefully will saw a colossal transformation in coming few years.
